Starr Space (formerly known as
Starr Street Projects) was started by artist Jules de Balincourt as an
extension of his art practice, with the sole intent being a space in
his own community that is completely open in purpose and use, allowing
not only his artistic peers to have a place to gather but for all
members of the Bushwick neighborhood.
Currently the space is used for dance and music
performances, screenings, yoga, fundraisers and local church parties,
and is constantly looking to expand in programming.
The future of the space, with hope, will
encompass even more diverse happenings, leading to a regular
congregation that reflects the quickening evolvement of the
neighborhood.
